May 24, 2017 (Julian 144) Saturn quincunx Sedna; Taurus Moon Turns Void
If you have read my earlier forecasts this week, and the news, then you know we are in a dangerous period. My original hunch (based on aspects) was that it would occur on Tuesday and involve EU / Middle East. The explosion at the concert in the UK, precisely the kind of thing that “came to me,” actually occurred on Monday and involved the UK (and Middle East). I have said before, and say again, that I think this entire week is dangerous. I stand by that prognostication and hope that I am wrong. As I said previously, I would rather be “wrong” and not see loss of life than the other way around.
That said, the big news today is the perfection of Saturn quincunx Sedna. Since Saturn is retrograde, we say this a few months ago (in Saturn direct motion) and will see it again in a few months (in direct motion). From a “zoomed out” long term perspective (years, decades, and centuries), this is the most important aspect this year (although arguably Saturn trine Uranus is a rather persuasive runner up).
What does it mean? Well, it is not very “pretty” as Southern ladies I know might say (watch the old movie “Steel Magnolias” to get what I am saying). In fact, it is downright “ugly.”
Sedna is so new to us that it is very difficult to interpret, having been discovered in 2003. With a 10,500 year orbit, it represents an entire new class of objects (as well as a shift in our collective consciousness, much as the discovery of Uranus did in the late 18th century). So, what does it mean?
More than a few of us are scratching our heads about it, and more than a few astrologers are ignoring it. After all, with a 10,500 year orbit, it could be treated the same as a fixed star (and probably should be). Any meaningful changes in position / interpretation will come after we are all dead and gone. Sedna is located between 17 and 18 Taurus, and can differ slightly in only the fractions of the degree it occupies.
The short version of the “meaning” of Sedna is that she is the Inuit (if unfamiliar to you, think “Eskimo”) Goddess of the Victim. The story is very unpleasant, characterized by an unpleasant marriage built on lies and deceit followed by a painful death at her father’s hands (that is a really bad choice of words; he cut her fingers one by one, leading to her death by drowning).
Saturn we all know, but here is a short recap: Saturn (Roman) was also known as Kronos (Greek) and is the basis for “Father Time” in English stories and the “old year” with the sickle at New Year’s Eve celebrations. Physically he represents bones (or the superstructure of a building), is tied to Capricorn and the 10th house (of careers), and is very much about the status quo and (like Vesta) “doing things the way we have always done them.” Saturn is currently in late Sagittarius, the sign of foreign travel, law, universities, and “higher thought.”
A quincunx, to review, is an aspect of disharmony that results in the ultimate in miscommunications. The signs that house the planets differ in quality (Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable) and element (Fire, Earth, Air, and Water) and everything else. It is the kind of “connection” that is really the ultimate disconnect.
I hate to say it, but I think this aspect tells us that the victims of the bombing will not receive justice. We might THINK that they will receive justice, but like any miscommunication this will turn out to be “not quite true.” Some other events must happen first. About a year or so from now, when Saturn makes it to 17 Capricorn, we might finally see the truly responsible parties brought to justice. But the trip involves Saturn (time and difficulties) and Sedna (Victims, and people without choice). It will not be easy.
In fact, this aspect is saying that, collectively, we will have to take some hard medicine. Doing what needs to be done to halt suicide bombers and similar people will involve harsh tactics that none of us want to think about. The path forward is more difficult than many of us imagine. Cherish your rights; much blood has been spilled to protect your freedoms, and threats to our freedoms seemingly never stop.
A few of you are asking, again, BUT WHERE IS TODAY’S FORECAST? Well, this is such an important day in certain ways (seeking justice for the victims), that I would argue you “just read it.” But here are the more short term (i.e. the “lights” or Sun and Moon) aspects and analysis.
First off, Moon in Taurus goes void of course at 2:07 PM CDT. (12:07 PM PDT; 3:07 EDT; 8:07 PM in London). All bets are off until tomorrow morning, and give the other aspects, I think that Saturn (father time, the “reaper” of traditional astrology) and Sedna (Victims) make this an extra dangerous void. Watch your temper. Avoid dangerous people, places, and things, and avoid being one yourself.
It is a day full of irritations and a tendency to remember people who have caused you harm. Be careful with this; it can lead you down the wrong road today. You might need justice, but today is better for “doing your homework” rather than taking action.
Keep in mind that the Moon could be viewed as forming a (VERY loose) yod with Jupiter (Libra) and Saturn (Sagittarius). That means you may face a decision today, and it may be a rather difficult one.
Prior to the void you CAN accomplish SOME things, but we are in Dark of the Moon (DOTM) and the New Moon is tomorrow. That means the most important accomplishments today involve “house cleaning” and discarding that which is no longer needed or helpful, taking into our recommendations regarding temper. Do not throw it (or them) out because you are angry. The anger might help stir you to action, but make certain that your thinking is clear and legitimate.
I think that, oddly, a handful of sculptors somewhere “out there” can produce some amazing work today, particularly if it is something that honors the memorial of those who have gone before us, particularly anyone who has been a victim.
