July 10, 2017 (Julian 191) Mars square Eris

July 10, 2017 (Julian 191) Mars square Eris

First, let us dispense with the more ordinary aspects of the day.  The Moon is past full and now waning.  Some still count it as full, but it is void of course in Capricorn (possibly the most useless void imaginable), but moves into Aquarius slightly past midnight CDT.  Frankly, we would declare the lunation as “over” by the time this sign change occurs.

What dominates?  Others have discussed the Sun opposite Pluto.  That will have perfected by the time you read this, but it does have an influence and can provide energy to accomplish useful work IF power struggles and spats and altercations and such (oh, my!) can be avoided.  Mercury sesquiquadrate Saturn COULD also be viewed as “annoying,” but we agree with others who interpret it as giving many of us the focus to pay attention to important details that might be overlooked.

We have become increasingly interested in higher order (fifth harmonic (quintiles) and seventh harmonic (septiles)) aspects and also interactions of outer planet (or “generational”) bodies.  This includes asteroids and distant objects such as Sedna.

Mars squares Eris today.  Similar to Sedna, Eris is a distant object, but it is typically associated with chaos, sometimes massive chaos.  With Mars square Eris today, and likely creating a T-Square with Pluto, we think today, and maybe this week, could be another dangerous one.  We urge you to be careful.

But, again, beyond the danger (if you can stay safe), chances are good that you might can accomplish things today beyond your ordinary abilities.  And if you do not accomplish, then you will make definitive discoveries as to exactly what the roadblocks are.

June 20, 2017 (Julian 171) Summer Solstice at 11:25 PM CDT

June 20, 2017 (Julian 171) Summer Solstice at 11:25 PM CDT

A solstice or equinox point is enough to make a day interesting.  Technically, that happens on the 21st if you live in EDT or points east (EU / UK) but today if CDT or points west (including California, Alaska, and Hawaii).  Many have discussed solstice points, and we will not elaborate except to say Cancer begins here.  Cancer is usually a benevolent sign, but it CAN produce monsters (and an excellent example is Ariel Castro).  I have seen others, both in the news (Jodi Arias, O J Simpson) and personally.  I have also seen Cancerians who are benevolent people.  But, let’s be clear for anyone who thinks Cancer is always inherently benevolent: Cancer can (and does) produce monsters.

But for most of us, the Summer Solstice is usually benevolent (unless we overdo alcohol or other mood altering drugs or engage in other dangerous behavior).  The Sun is VOID today (something we do not discuss much, usually it is the moon v/c that we discuss most), and “things” taken on today may not last.

The Moon is in DOTM (Dark of the Moon), and that makes this a VERY good time to tap into the intuitive side of ourselves, sometimes receiving messages from those who are no longer incarnate on earth, a time we usually associate with Halloween.  (But, it can, and does, happen at other times of the year.  This is one of them.)  One more thing: at almost the exact moment of the solstice, ever so slightly past, the Moon perfects a trine to Pluto in Capricorn and turns void, remaining void on Wednesday until 5:44 PM CDT.  Effectively, we move from a long solar void directly into a long lunar void.

Venus (Taurus) sextiles Neptune (Pisces), and that is associated with romantic adventures (which might not last, given other considerations, yet still be worthwhile due to fond memories).  What is not commonly know is that the Taurus / Pisces aspect can be real moneymakers sometimes, and this particular combination (Venus in its home and Neptune in its home) is one that can lead to “genius level” in moneymaking or development of art.

If you are at all inclined to be a creative, take today to manifest your perhaps latent talents.  Even if today does not directly pay off in an obvious way, you will find you WILL reap benefits of some kind at some point later.  Do not give up too soon on your gift. (A lesson I need to hear myself from time to time.  I make no money from writing these forecasts, at least not yet.)

As we mentioned yesterday, Venus (as Inanna) is at the Third Gate.  This year, and this iteration of the cycle, the First Gate was associated with the election in France.  The Second Gate was associated with a terrorist bombing at a concert in Manchester, UK.  Mars is active with Outer planets / outer objects (mostly asteroids) all week, so we think that it could be dangerous for some people.  We urge you to be careful today (and tomorrow).

A number of disturbing and dangerous events have been reported in the news, but the one that concerns us most involves a Navy “Superhornet” fighter jet shooting down a Syrian plane, a response that came after “the [Syrian] SU-22 jet dropped bombs on Sunday near American-backed fighters combating the Islamic State.”  Our response was provoked, I have no doubt about that, but I am also worried that we may be teetering on the brink of a very “hot” war.

If you have read my predictions for at least a few months, then you know I wrote about this the day of the election, last November (2016).  Some have said they think that the market is a bit too high (what has been called “irrational exuberance” in the past), and I hope they are wrong but worry that they might be right.  A number of other astrologers have claimed that a war will be tied to the eclipse of August 21st.  In any case, I am a bit worried about this “Third Gate.”  So, again, be careful.  (And don’t steal any North Korea propaganda posters off the hotel wall.  They take that kind of thing rather seriously.)

But, let’s make the main point again: if you have any artistic (or moneymaking) inclinations at all, you should take the plunge despite the other indications.  This may not take you where you expect, but chances are good that you will like results anyway, despite the fact that they may be unexpected or in a different direction.  Write character sketches of people you know for that novel you keep meaning to write, draw a diagram of the way the parts of your life fit together, (or not) write a poem about the most important person, or people, in your life or whatever else might capture your fancy.  Do an internet search for ideas if you must.  <We have other comments on this day at Weekly Forecasts>

As long as it is not dangerous, be willing to take a risk and do something a bit different (and artistic).

June 9, 2017 (Julian 160) Full Moon + Jupiter Direct Station

June 9, 2017 (Julian 160) Full Moon + Jupiter Direct Station

What can we add?  Much, if not all, of our most important comments were for yesterday, with the Moon in (early) Sagittarius and waxing.  Today’s FM perfects in the morning hours for the Western Hemisphere, and mid afternoon hours for UK / EU.  Much has been written about it, and we have reblogged the many opinions of others on our other blog, Full Moons Only.

The same kind of thing is true for today’s Jupiter Direct station, reblogged on Retrogrades Only.  You will notice less content there.  That is because most commentary about the Jupiter shift has been integrated into the full moon posts.

So what remains to be said?  Outside of my usual analytic self, I feel a profound sense of sadness.  To be certain, this is a happy FM and is happening in the spring of the year.  But something has had an effect on me, maybe the many terrorists acts and atrocities.  Maybe it is this piece by OneAnna (Cancer Killing Recipe).  Her blog lacks the sophisticated trickery that many of us use, but she was here when I started blogging in 2008, and she has managed to survive despite the diagnosis she claims.  If it is her time, then that leaves me sad.

What else to say?  Sun forms one of two annual quincunx aspects with Pluto.  (Pluto is in Capricorn; one quincunx is in Aries and the other is in Gemini.  This is the latter.  These will continue to happen in similar configurations for a few more years.  And do keep in mind that sesquiquadrates, and the potential for Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist) aspects always accompanies those.)  With Sun / Pluto at 17 and Neptune at 14, I think we can argue that a Yod exists (major decisions) with Pluto at the apex.  This is a particularly uncomfortable decision no matter which choice you make.  (No matter which “leg” you choose, you end up with Pluto: death, taxes, poisons, assassinations, police, and intelligence agencies.)

Venus (Taurus, favorable) sextiles Mars (Cancer, unfavorable), and this means peace on one hand (“good”) but a profound lack of incentive to “get things done” (“bad”) on the other hand.  Whether this works for you, or against, depends on who you are and what situation characterizes your life.  For some, this is “good,” and for others it is “bad.”  Here is what is important to remember: you CAN “get things done” if you are willing to make the effort.  Anything involving long distance travel, higher education (universities), or law & legal will tend to fizzle, so you might focus your efforts in other areas if you find no progress in those.

Outers are busy today, and three aspects capture our attention.  Chiron (Pisces) sesquiquadrate Vesta (Leo) will affect some, and you will have a sense of urgency to deal with issues involving healthcare, higher education, mentors and the traditions associated with those.  Do what you can, keeping in mind the considerations of the previous paragraph.  Pallas biseptiles Hygeia, amplifying any issues involving health or healthcare issues.  Saturn triseptiles the White Moon, and we are not quite sure what that means EXCEPT that this is an important time to closely scrutinize the choices you have been making and your habits.  A change may be needed in a subtle area that may look insignificant but is not.  (Example: buying an expensive coffee each day instead of placing those funds in savings.)

The message of OneAnna has us thinking, and we offer it to anyone willing to receive it:

June 4, 2017 (Julian 155) Sun Square Neptune; Mars enters Cancer

June 4, 2017 (Julian 155) Sun Square Neptune; Mars enters Cancer

First, let us address the Moon.  Moon remains in Libra all day in the Western Hemisphere, but turns void at 3:55 AM until about 5:45 AM CDT.  In EU / UK, this void, marked by Moon square Mars, starts 9:55 AM until 11:45 AM (adjust for DST as necessary).  Mostly this is benevolent, but the square to Mars confirms much of what we will be discussing the remainder of this post.  You can read detailed analyses of the current lunar transits here.  (Please do note that those are CURRENT lunar transits if you are reading this post in hindsight, days, weeks, months, or years from the date of posting.)

Annual Event: Sun Square Neptune

Sun square Neptune, regardless of placements, almost always affects me, regardless of placements.  (This is an annual event, occurring in two different versions over the course of the year.  The other will be in Sagittarius, later in autumn.)  How and why that is true is a bit too personal, but I have publicly admitted that I am a Solar Leo, and the Sun is always extra important to you if you are one of those.

Many of you feel it, also.  For some people this is illness, and for others it is a brilliant insight into poetry or song or maybe religious faith or other spirituality.  I usually get sick, and this year it was smart enough to sneak up on me a few days early (preventing me from preparing for the ambush).

Mars Enters Cancer

Mars enters Cancer today, also.  Only people who actually have Mars in Cancer ordinarily benefit from this.  Mars in Scorpio or Mars in Pisces, in a natal chart, might do “OK” also.  The rest of us tend to not like it.  Either ugly family quarrels break out (an affliction to Cancer) or we feel our energy sapped, drained.  Again, not EVERYone gets zapped, but many of us do feel drained.  Cancer is one of the worst placements for Mars, said by the ancients (and traditionalists) to be in “fall.”  (You can still “get things done,” but martians of all kinds have difficulty now, and athletes tend to suffer misfortune if they “push too hard.”)

Outers

Outers perplex me.  Since I have been out of commission a few days, I could not write my forecasts.  I am not 100% “back,” yet, either.  But, I stick to my methods, and it looked to me like Friday was dangerous, and Sunday (today, June 4th) was dangerous but Saturday OK.  Not sure why I keep getting this “one off” error with the terrorists (and other bad guys).

Here is the summary:

(1) Friday: Mars forms an undecile with Sedna.  Undeciiles are still a bit unclear to me, but they tell me SOMEthing is happening.  Mars is martians: police, soldiers, intelligence agencies (and sometimes terrorists).  Sedna is about victims, among other things.  With a 10,500 year orbit, Sedna operates more like a Fixed Star, but clearly a potent one!  Martians? Victims?  What could possibly go wrong?

But the big terrorist act was in the UK on SATURDAY, not Friday.  Maybe it is what my old mentor taught me: an activating lunar event is needed.  Metaphorically, the outer planets load the gun and take aim, but a lunar or inner planet aspect is needed to “pull the trigger.”

The rest of Friday Outer Planet Perfections were all squares, and one was Mars Square Chiron, just in case anyone did not “get the memo” that Mars/Sedna sent.  Very ugly.

(2) Saturday looked more benvolent, and we even had a quintile (but, it was Chiron the wounded healer and Juno of Trust / Betrayal issues).  I can see how Saturday COULD turn ugly with Mars BiUndecil.  e Eris.  From that page, we have this passage: “Eris was not invited to a wedding so she chucked an apple marked ‘To the fairest’ into party for the vainest goddesses to fight over. Her rage at rejection and the need for vindication is what is blamed for the Trojan war. The side of her that is like Lilith is the fact that she was the uninvited guest, the disowned and exiled, the 13th fairy that cursed sleeping beauty. Finally Eris, like Lilith in the garden of Eden caused a hell of a lot of trouble with just one apple!”

(3) Sunday June 4th (today), looks ugly again like Friday. Vesta (traditions, “how we have always done it”) perfects a (karmic) triseptile with Astraea (law and legal).  Ceres (food, prosperity) forms a septile (karmic, again) with Eris (there is the goddess of discord, again).

Mars perfects hex-undeciles with Astraea then Juno, entering Cancer between the aspects.  So, again, I think today is dangerous.  But, then again, given my recent “one off” errors, you better lump in Monday and Tuesday as risky days, too.  Better safe than sorry.

Later This Week: Full Moon + Jupiter Stations Direct

Full Moon is June 9th, and Jupiter stations direct at that time also.  As long was we are in the “shadow” of the Jupiter retrograde, strife in foreign affairs (e.g. the controversy over the Paris agreement) will likely continue.  Ditto for problems in higher ed and the legal system.

April 17, 2017 (Julian 107)

April 17, 2017 (Julian 107)

This is the kind of day that is not clearly good or clearly bad but it is clearly about work and “getting things done” and almost no one is in the mood to play.  Sun trine Saturn is benevolent, sort of, even though Saturn is known as the “Greater Malefic.”  With Moon in Capricorn (Saturn’s home) almost no one has any sympathy for anyone else.  Few people, if anyone, can make excuses work today (even if they are valid!).  Mars (the “Lesser Malefic”) is in unsympathetic Taurus forming the unpleasant aspect called a “quincunx” (or “inconjunct”) with Saturn.  Neither can agree, and both effectively have a miscommunication or “misunderstanding” (all this with Mercury Retrograde!).

Moon forms a sesquiquadrate with Mars, amplifying the intensity of the quincunx, and forms a sextile to Neptune, bringing the confusion that Neptune brings into the muddled mix.  All of this occurs in the evening in the Western Hemisphere and early morning hours of Tuesday in the UK / EU and points east.

Outers are quite busy.  We have already mentioned Mars / Saturn, but Mars also forms a sesquiquadrate to Hygeia, bringing an urgency to health and healthcare issues (which may be the source of issues for a number of people this evening).  Pallas biquintiles the North Node, so some creative problem solving MIGHT help solve the issues of this evening.  Saturn also forms a biquintile, also adding to the possibility of a creative solution.

Staying home this evening and taking a break seems like a good idea, but this might be an evening where the problem(s) come and find you.
