June 20, 2017 (Julian 171) Summer Solstice at 11:25 PM CDT

June 20, 2017 (Julian 171) Summer Solstice at 11:25 PM CDT

A solstice or equinox point is enough to make a day interesting.  Technically, that happens on the 21st if you live in EDT or points east (EU / UK) but today if CDT or points west (including California, Alaska, and Hawaii).  Many have discussed solstice points, and we will not elaborate except to say Cancer begins here.  Cancer is usually a benevolent sign, but it CAN produce monsters (and an excellent example is Ariel Castro).  I have seen others, both in the news (Jodi Arias, O J Simpson) and personally.  I have also seen Cancerians who are benevolent people.  But, let’s be clear for anyone who thinks Cancer is always inherently benevolent: Cancer can (and does) produce monsters.

But for most of us, the Summer Solstice is usually benevolent (unless we overdo alcohol or other mood altering drugs or engage in other dangerous behavior).  The Sun is VOID today (something we do not discuss much, usually it is the moon v/c that we discuss most), and “things” taken on today may not last.

The Moon is in DOTM (Dark of the Moon), and that makes this a VERY good time to tap into the intuitive side of ourselves, sometimes receiving messages from those who are no longer incarnate on earth, a time we usually associate with Halloween.  (But, it can, and does, happen at other times of the year.  This is one of them.)  One more thing: at almost the exact moment of the solstice, ever so slightly past, the Moon perfects a trine to Pluto in Capricorn and turns void, remaining void on Wednesday until 5:44 PM CDT.  Effectively, we move from a long solar void directly into a long lunar void.

Venus (Taurus) sextiles Neptune (Pisces), and that is associated with romantic adventures (which might not last, given other considerations, yet still be worthwhile due to fond memories).  What is not commonly know is that the Taurus / Pisces aspect can be real moneymakers sometimes, and this particular combination (Venus in its home and Neptune in its home) is one that can lead to “genius level” in moneymaking or development of art.

If you are at all inclined to be a creative, take today to manifest your perhaps latent talents.  Even if today does not directly pay off in an obvious way, you will find you WILL reap benefits of some kind at some point later.  Do not give up too soon on your gift. (A lesson I need to hear myself from time to time.  I make no money from writing these forecasts, at least not yet.)

As we mentioned yesterday, Venus (as Inanna) is at the Third Gate.  This year, and this iteration of the cycle, the First Gate was associated with the election in France.  The Second Gate was associated with a terrorist bombing at a concert in Manchester, UK.  Mars is active with Outer planets / outer objects (mostly asteroids) all week, so we think that it could be dangerous for some people.  We urge you to be careful today (and tomorrow).

A number of disturbing and dangerous events have been reported in the news, but the one that concerns us most involves a Navy “Superhornet” fighter jet shooting down a Syrian plane, a response that came after “the [Syrian] SU-22 jet dropped bombs on Sunday near American-backed fighters combating the Islamic State.”  Our response was provoked, I have no doubt about that, but I am also worried that we may be teetering on the brink of a very “hot” war.

If you have read my predictions for at least a few months, then you know I wrote about this the day of the election, last November (2016).  Some have said they think that the market is a bit too high (what has been called “irrational exuberance” in the past), and I hope they are wrong but worry that they might be right.  A number of other astrologers have claimed that a war will be tied to the eclipse of August 21st.  In any case, I am a bit worried about this “Third Gate.”  So, again, be careful.  (And don’t steal any North Korea propaganda posters off the hotel wall.  They take that kind of thing rather seriously.)

But, let’s make the main point again: if you have any artistic (or moneymaking) inclinations at all, you should take the plunge despite the other indications.  This may not take you where you expect, but chances are good that you will like results anyway, despite the fact that they may be unexpected or in a different direction.  Write character sketches of people you know for that novel you keep meaning to write, draw a diagram of the way the parts of your life fit together, (or not) write a poem about the most important person, or people, in your life or whatever else might capture your fancy.  Do an internet search for ideas if you must.  <We have other comments on this day at Weekly Forecasts>

As long as it is not dangerous, be willing to take a risk and do something a bit different (and artistic).

June 19, 2017 (Julian 170) Moon in Aries moves into Taurus

June 19, 2017 (Julian 170) Moon in Aries moves into Taurus

Venus perfects a quincunx to Jupiter near 7 AM CDT, forcing a decision as we discussed was in play yesterday.  While yods do not indicate one path or the other, then slight tendency here for many people is to take the “practical” answer regarding love, relationships, money, or possibly health today.  You will get a clear cut result from that, but it may not have long term “staying power,” especially when Mercury retrograde hits in about a month.  The other choice, the more abstract and intangible choice that Neptune in Pisces offers is not at all clear cut and may yield no results whatsoever.  But, be certain of this: choosing this path will have long term consequences.  We cannot tell you which one to pick, but if you look back to certain periods, you might find the antecedent to today (and this week).

Which periods?  We think October of 2016 will be one of those periods for some people, as is May 17th of this year with a followup on July 4th of this year.  For some people (maybe some of the same as the previous comment), The Grand Yod of September 2014 will provide insight to the turning points that “got us where we are.”  We hope that a review of these time periods, where we often recommended that you keep notes about the events of the day, may yield important insights.

Venus forms a semi-square with Chiron (Pisces, health, healthcare, education, and mentors), and we suspect that the Venus path that we described in the previous paragraphs may not necessarily be easy.  Venus also forms a semi-square with the Sun (Gemini), and this adds even more pressure to make a decision and difficulty to the “Venus choice.”  This is not an easy day, and many of your are better off if you spend time “cleaning house” and discarding the unnecessary.  However, “circumstances” may not permit you to do this.

To complicate “things” further, Venus is about to enter the “third gate,” which it will due about 5:30 PM CDT Tuesday (tomorrow).  The last time I talked about this, I thought that Tuesday (the Second Gate) would be dangerous, but it was the day before, Monday when a tragedy happened at a concert in the UK.

Mars aspects SOMEthing everyday this week, including Outers (“big picture” generational planets and asteroids) except Saturday.  Many days have TWO Mars aspects.  (Today, Mars opposes Hygeia (health and healthcare) and quintiles Uranus (surprises, sometimes explosions).  We have a New Moon coming, and that follows the Summer Solstice.  Periods that precede either of those tend to have more of a “fate” quality (less “free will”), and they lay the groundwork for major shifts that often affect all of us.  Needless to say, I am a bit concerned.

Beyond this, I stick with my forecast on Weekly Forecasts.  Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) and Air (Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini) signs are wise to accomplish the most important tasks before the Moon in Aries goes void near 2 PM CDT.  Earth and Water can accrue some advantage waiting until after 5 PM CDT, but we are in a “too early to tell” period then, and some “re-do” might be necessary for everyone.

Andy Candypants has a wonderful forecast for today, and it is not as grim as mind.  Different people see different things when they read the aspects.  Helen Edey also has a useful forecast.   Maybe between the three of us, and the others I reblog, you can find a forecast that works for you and helps make the day the best that you can have.

June 11, 2017 (Julian 162) Moon in Capricorn + Neptune Quincunx Vesta

June 11, 2017 (Julian 162) Moon in Capricorn + Neptune Quincunx Vesta

Since Neptune will turn retrograde soon, this week on June 16th, we will quickly revisit this aspect “soon” (July).  This is an unpleasant aspect that typically brings chaos and discord to traditions and “how we have always done things.”  Pluto triseptiles Vesta, bringing a flavor of “karma” to the mess.  Forgiveness is smarter than blame here.  If you cannot do that, then leave the situation and give yourself a “time out.”

Moon in Capricorn forms a quincunx about 11 PM CDT Saturday night and almost exactly 24 hours later Moon perfects the same aspect to the Sun.  This is more chaos and discord.  Events involving alcohol / drugs can go very badly at this time.  Stay away from those situations.

9 AM CDT brings a Moon / Jupiter square, and those are also about “overdoing,” particularly overeating or overspending.  By 8 PM CDT, Moon perfects a conjunction to Pluto, and you, or someone near you, will want an accounting.  This is not a day to squander time, money, or opportunities.  It is a day to stay out of spats and disagreements.  If necessary, spend time alone and “clean house” and work on finances & bookkeeping.

And, plan for the upcoming week.  “Things” can be a bit strange Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday.  If you, or someone you know, uses or abuses alcohol or drugs, “things” can reach a breaking point.  Ditto for people with various mental illnesses (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and so forth).  Things can “get a lot more crazy.”  (We are stealing that line from a Dateline episode.)  Take care of business TODAY (Sunday); you will need the essentials done.

June 8, 2017 (Julian 159) Waxing Moon in Sagittarius + more….

June 8, 2017 (Julian 159) Waxing Moon in Sagittarius + more….

Today, and tomorrow, are complex.  Moon has entered Sagittarius and is waxing, building to the Full Moon (Moon in Sadge / Sun in Gemini) tomorrow at 8:09 AM CDT.  The Moon does NOT go void after perfecting the FM (which sometimes happens) but goes on to make other aspects.  AND on this same day, Jupiter stations direct.

Also, this is as “full” as this FM can be at night.  Friday night it is shrinking, and much (not all) of the show is over.  If you are celebrating the waxing full moon, you need to do it tonight.

Outer planet stations can be tricky to interpret because the following shadow period lasts, literally, months.  So, what does it mean?  We can only guess that it deals with topics where Jupiter (ambassadors, “foreigners,” foreign travel, higher education, law, legal, courts of law, and similar topics) and Libra (art in general but particularly art forms such as writing (prose more than poetry, Pisces “owns” poetry), “relationships,” law and the legal system (and questions of “fairness,” sometimes synonymous with the term “equity” or “equitable”) and almost any other question of “balance”).  Since the Moon is in Sadge (a survivable but not particularly favorable place for it) and Jupiter is “standing still” (from our Earth bound vantage point), “things” can become a bit messy.  (The Moon “could” be strong, except it is in the sign ruled by Jupiter and Jupiter is at a standstill, further debilitating the Moon.)

Mercury (now in its home of Gemini) also forms a sesquiquadrate (get it done NOW because it is overdue) aspect with Pluto (in Capricorn, strong but not at home), and we feel a strong sense of urgency.  Since Mercury CAN rule accounting or bookkeeping, Capricorn is about finances and (especially large) corporations, and Pluto is about digging into the deeper aspects of everything, we bet that something “interesting” will happen with regard to the financial markets (on a large scale) and maybe your personal finances or budgeting (or a personal scale).  If it does not happen today, then it will happen tomorrow or already happened yesterday.

Outers continues to be complex, and both Mars and Black Moon Lilith continue to be active.  Many of the higher order aspects are difficult to read, but a few are clear.  Jupiter (Libra) perfects a sextile to Vesta (Leo), and we find that traditions are emphasized, particularly regarding courts and higher education but also in personal relationships.  We are purposely understating the case here because we suspect that the Jupiter station makes these issues HUGE “punctuation marks” in the lives of many of us.

Neptune (poetry, photography, videography, sometimes alcohol or drug abuse or criminality) perfects a novile (high order insights that are glimpses of the future, PAY ATTENTION!) with Pallas (genius and insight, but particularly of a military or athletic nature more than the more general Uranian variety).

You will have an important hint given to you today, and it may be very difficult to understand, maybe extra strange (a UFO will land in your yard and steal your pink flamingos).  You do not believe in UFOs, don’t have any pink flamingos (and detest them), and you write the idea that this is important off as stupid.

But the next day, or maybe this weekend, or next week, or “soon,” your elderly auntie stops by your house and gives you, much to your surprise, her cherished pink flamingos, a pair of them.  She goes on to see the doctor, is immediately hospitalized, and dies an hour later.  You put the flamingos out front for trash collection.  Some guys in a moving van, who are actually “aliens” from Mexico, employed by “UFO Movers” of Roswell, New Mexico, see the flamingos and take them.

And then they are gone, headed out of state to a destination over 1,000 miles away.  They are transient labor, and you will NEVER track them down.  Gone forever.

You find out next week that one of those flamingos was worth $10,000.  A pair is extra rare, and they were worth $25,000.  The technical explanation for this situation is this: You are one STUPID f-cker.  You did NOT pay attention to the gift of insight the universe gave you.

Moral of the story: PAY ATTENTION!  Noviles work like this….

Sun is in Gemini.  “Reaction time is a factor in this, so please pay attention.”

And Mars is still quite active.

June 4, 2017 (Julian 155) Sun Square Neptune; Mars enters Cancer

June 4, 2017 (Julian 155) Sun Square Neptune; Mars enters Cancer

First, let us address the Moon.  Moon remains in Libra all day in the Western Hemisphere, but turns void at 3:55 AM until about 5:45 AM CDT.  In EU / UK, this void, marked by Moon square Mars, starts 9:55 AM until 11:45 AM (adjust for DST as necessary).  Mostly this is benevolent, but the square to Mars confirms much of what we will be discussing the remainder of this post.  You can read detailed analyses of the current lunar transits here.  (Please do note that those are CURRENT lunar transits if you are reading this post in hindsight, days, weeks, months, or years from the date of posting.)

Annual Event: Sun Square Neptune

Sun square Neptune, regardless of placements, almost always affects me, regardless of placements.  (This is an annual event, occurring in two different versions over the course of the year.  The other will be in Sagittarius, later in autumn.)  How and why that is true is a bit too personal, but I have publicly admitted that I am a Solar Leo, and the Sun is always extra important to you if you are one of those.

Many of you feel it, also.  For some people this is illness, and for others it is a brilliant insight into poetry or song or maybe religious faith or other spirituality.  I usually get sick, and this year it was smart enough to sneak up on me a few days early (preventing me from preparing for the ambush).

Mars Enters Cancer

Mars enters Cancer today, also.  Only people who actually have Mars in Cancer ordinarily benefit from this.  Mars in Scorpio or Mars in Pisces, in a natal chart, might do “OK” also.  The rest of us tend to not like it.  Either ugly family quarrels break out (an affliction to Cancer) or we feel our energy sapped, drained.  Again, not EVERYone gets zapped, but many of us do feel drained.  Cancer is one of the worst placements for Mars, said by the ancients (and traditionalists) to be in “fall.”  (You can still “get things done,” but martians of all kinds have difficulty now, and athletes tend to suffer misfortune if they “push too hard.”)

Outers

Outers perplex me.  Since I have been out of commission a few days, I could not write my forecasts.  I am not 100% “back,” yet, either.  But, I stick to my methods, and it looked to me like Friday was dangerous, and Sunday (today, June 4th) was dangerous but Saturday OK.  Not sure why I keep getting this “one off” error with the terrorists (and other bad guys).

Here is the summary:

(1) Friday: Mars forms an undecile with Sedna.  Undeciiles are still a bit unclear to me, but they tell me SOMEthing is happening.  Mars is martians: police, soldiers, intelligence agencies (and sometimes terrorists).  Sedna is about victims, among other things.  With a 10,500 year orbit, Sedna operates more like a Fixed Star, but clearly a potent one!  Martians? Victims?  What could possibly go wrong?

But the big terrorist act was in the UK on SATURDAY, not Friday.  Maybe it is what my old mentor taught me: an activating lunar event is needed.  Metaphorically, the outer planets load the gun and take aim, but a lunar or inner planet aspect is needed to “pull the trigger.”

The rest of Friday Outer Planet Perfections were all squares, and one was Mars Square Chiron, just in case anyone did not “get the memo” that Mars/Sedna sent.  Very ugly.

(2) Saturday looked more benvolent, and we even had a quintile (but, it was Chiron the wounded healer and Juno of Trust / Betrayal issues).  I can see how Saturday COULD turn ugly with Mars BiUndecil.  e Eris.  From that page, we have this passage: “Eris was not invited to a wedding so she chucked an apple marked ‘To the fairest’ into party for the vainest goddesses to fight over. Her rage at rejection and the need for vindication is what is blamed for the Trojan war. The side of her that is like Lilith is the fact that she was the uninvited guest, the disowned and exiled, the 13th fairy that cursed sleeping beauty. Finally Eris, like Lilith in the garden of Eden caused a hell of a lot of trouble with just one apple!”

(3) Sunday June 4th (today), looks ugly again like Friday. Vesta (traditions, “how we have always done it”) perfects a (karmic) triseptile with Astraea (law and legal).  Ceres (food, prosperity) forms a septile (karmic, again) with Eris (there is the goddess of discord, again).

Mars perfects hex-undeciles with Astraea then Juno, entering Cancer between the aspects.  So, again, I think today is dangerous.  But, then again, given my recent “one off” errors, you better lump in Monday and Tuesday as risky days, too.  Better safe than sorry.

Later This Week: Full Moon + Jupiter Stations Direct

Full Moon is June 9th, and Jupiter stations direct at that time also.  As long was we are in the “shadow” of the Jupiter retrograde, strife in foreign affairs (e.g. the controversy over the Paris agreement) will likely continue.  Ditto for problems in higher ed and the legal system.

May 11, 2017 (Julian 131) Void Moon in Scorpio enters Sadge + Mars Square Neptune + Mercury trine Saturn

May 11, 2017 (Julian 131) Void Moon in Scorpio enters Sadge + Mars Square Neptune + Mercury trine Saturn

Void since perfection of the Full Moon yesterday, Moon continues void this morning in Scorpio until it enters Sagittarius at almost exactly Noon CDT.  Moon quincunx Uranus (Aries) then Mercury (Aries) near sunrise (CDT) leads to mistakes and miscalculations just in time for rush hour.  Be extra careful, and make absolutely certain that you do not follow too closely.  A lunar trine to Chiron about 7:30 AM CDT brings issues of healthcare, education, mentors or some mix all to the surface.  Recognize them but do not take action until at least the void is over and preferably on another day.

Why avoid action today?  Mars squares Neptune, and nothing is as it seems.  Snake oil salesmen and con-artists prosper, and unless you are one of those, chances are good you will not.  Mercury trines Saturn which leads people to check every detail, dot every “i,” and cross every “t.”  Even the snake oil salesmen may not do so well.  Maybe we should say “salesperson” because chances are the person likely to blindside you will not meet with your expectations.

Any upsides for today?  Plenty.  First, creatives continue to prosper.  This day tends to favor photographers, videographers, and other visual artists more than yesterday.  Work done this morning may require re-dos but should be done anyway.  Often the genius of a work is found in a re-do or edit.  Today is that kind of day.

Exactly the same advice applies to anyone who examines details for a living.  But if you are proofreading in the morning, make certain you give it a second look in the afternoon or evening.  Something will leap out at that time that makes a difference, maybe a pivotal change.

Moon is waning, so removal of the unnecessary leads to prosperity.  Sun is in Taurus, so sculptors prosper.  Just do not work in stone or marble this morning; model it in clay in the morning then do the final work in stone later today.

May 3, 2017 (Julian 123) Mercury stations Direct; Sun sextile Neptune

May 3, 2017 (Julian 123) Mercury stations Direct; Sun sextile Neptune

Mercury stations direct today, and that is the big news.  You can read more about that here: Retrogrades Only.  We will come back to that topic.

Sun (Taurus) sextile Neptune (Pisces) can bring genius level insight, criminal behavior, or both.  We admonish you to be careful not to become a victim and to avoid in engaging in criminal behavior yourself.  For some of you, you might have a breakthrough involving photography, videography, writing lyrics or poetry, or helping others. Earth (Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces)  Perfection of Jupiter quintile Saturn amplifies the effect and gives it a strong “practical” tendency.

Moon is quite busy, effectively touching everyone.  In succession, it touches Neptune, Jupiter, Venus, Pluto, Mercury, and Uranus.  Almost everyone feels this day.  At 11:34 PM CDT, Moon trines Saturn and moves void of course.  Effectively, this evening a Grand Fire Trine is in force.  This provides opportunities to fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) and air (Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini) signs.  Also worthy of note: in the morning of this day a Moon / Neptune / Pluto yod is in effect, and this will continue to occur each time the Moon is in Leo for the next several years.

Everyone has an opportunity of some kind today, but they differ depending on whether you are more earth / water or fire / air.  (Some people have a mix of both.)

We still think these are risky times and urge you to take caution this week.

April 28, 2017 (Julian 118) Venus enters Aries; Mercury (R) joins Uranus (Aries)

April 28, 2017 (Julian 118) Venus enters Aries; Mercury (R) joins Uranus (Aries)

The headline for today is that (1) Venus enters Aries (covering old ground from prior to the recent Venus Retrograde); and (2) Mercury (R) joins Uranus (something that will happen again with Mercury Direct on May 9th during the “shadow period” that lasts until May 20th.  This is a superb time for writers (and similar creatives) to develop ideas along with likely an important day for journalists and others who depend on writing and communication (or transportation) for their art, craft, or livelihood.

Some of you will be following up from yesterday’s window of opportunity for creatives.  Even if you cannot finish the project now, you can return to it May 9th.

Moon is in Gemini (Mercury ruled) all day.  Moon (Gemini) semi-squares Mercury / Uranus (Aries) about 2 PM CDT, and some of you will feel a sense of urgency to make progress or completed some project.  Follow your intuitions on this, but we especially recommend that you make as much progress today as you possibly can.  This is an important day to “push” to get things done.  The persistence will pay off, even if you see certain setbacks.

Outers are EXTREMELY busy today but enigmatic and difficult to interpret.  We know something is important about this particular day, but we simply are unable to interpret it for you.  That means it is up to you to determine why today is so important.  With Neptune (Pisces) sesquiquadrate Vesta (Cancer), we think this likely involves photographs and videos and the formation of memories of family members.  As Joni Mitchell once sang, “you never know what you’ve got until it is gone.”  Take pictures.  Make videos.  Cherish those close to you.

April 22, 2017 (Julian 112)

April 22, 2017 (Julian 112)

Mercury semi-squares Neptune giving creatives a peculiar sense of urgency.  At 3PM CDT Moon joins Neptune, amplifying the effect and bringing confusion to those not involved in a creative effort.  The rest of the lunar aspects are two semi-squares and a quincunx at 8 PM CDT.  Not all blind dates are disappointments, but the one tonight is likely to be so.  “Things” and people will be other than as expected.

This is not the best day to sign a contract.

The outers are not mute but are relatively quiet.  Mars / Uranus decile about 1:30 PM CDT brings accidents to some and mildly useful insights to others.  Jupiter biquintile White Moon Selena brings an insight or bright idea to a few.

Cafe’ Asrrology says, about this day, that “we may simply need a break from hard thinking and should do so if it can be managed.”  We agree.
