April 21, 2017 (Julian 111)

Yesterday I forgot to address something important.  April 20th is the anniversary of Adolph Hitler’s birth in 1889.  Few historical figures can generate the kinds of reactions that Hitler can.  In keeping with my basic idea that astrology is not about “fate” but about “tendencies” and “opportunities” and “windows,” I would like to take a moment to make a few points from my vantage point.

  1. At least a few people have argued that Hitler was “created” by circumstances, especially the harsh treatment of Germany after World War I.  (I first heard this idea promulgated in a history class.)  The idea is simple: if Germany had not been treated so harshly, then the economic climate would not have been ripe for the rise to power of a dictator like Hitler.  (Maybe Ernst Rohm?  Would a gay Sagittarius Nazi have been as bad as Hitler?  We will never know.)
  2. If #1 is true, then it is possible, maybe even likely, that some other dictator would have risen to power in these circumstances.  He might not have been as bad as Hitler.  Or, as inconceivable as it sounds, he might have been worse.
  3. If #1 and #2 are true, then this begs a rather interesting question: if Hitler’s life had been ever so slightly different, or if Germany had not been in such dire straights, what might have happened with Hitler?

Before I go any further, let me point this out: Hitler set in motion a number of atrocities.  I am not making an apology for him.  And, Grant Lewi (now long deceased) was highly influential on me as an astrologer.  Indeed, much of what I know about Saturn comes from Lewi and his analysis of Hitler in “Astrology for the Millions.”  Lewi treated Hitler’s life as inevitable, but I am not absolutely convinced of that because I believe that individuals have free will even if collectives, paradoxically, do not.  (And, they don’t.)

The solution to this “paradox” is that collective have roles (more like “holes”) in them that some individual, from a pool of individuals, will inevitably fill.  And, I think that is what happened with Hitler: he filled a “hole” in the fabric of post World War I Germany that gave rise to Nazi Germany.  Lewi points out that “conquestial dictators” like Hitler (or Napoleon) are usually fixed signs (respectively Taurus and Leo).

(This seems to ignore Stalin the Sagittarius, but then Stalin was not a conquestial dictator.  (However, this source claims Stalin was responsible for 40 million deaths, dwarfing Hitler’s six million Jews.  They were both unspeakably evil.  And, opinions vary about numbers and details.  And, one more.  I believe Stalin killed more, and here is why: Stalin operated, unopposed, over a much longer period of time.)

Given that Rohm was a Sadge (and a better trained soldier), maybe he might not have moved quite as quickly as Hitler did.  And, just maybe, a slower pace might have given Germany the time they needed to build nukes… …a very different timeline, indeed.)

With that in mind, and before I give today’s forecast, I offer the following possibilities.

  1. A number of people have offered that if “things” had been a little different, a number of historical figures would not have risen to prominence and would have died in obscurity.  The two that I recall are (1) Adolph Hitler (dying as a petty criminal) and (2) Malcolm X (also dying as a petty criminal if he had not converted to Islam).  I am sure this is likely with others as well.  (Possibly Nelson Mandela?  Unsure.)  That is, if something involving Hitler’s time in prison / writing “Mein Kampf” had differed even slightly, things might have been very different for him.  (More time in prison (shifting the timeline) or maybe no prison time (eliminating the motive and opportunity to write “Mein Kampf”) or ?)
  2. If somehow the timeline shifted slightly before his birth, and he had been tagged with the name “Schiklgruber” instead of “Hitler.”  (For more, see here (and numerous other sources).)  As a number have written before me, imagining millions of German shouting “Heil Schicklgruber” is very nearly comic.  And as others have written before me, I will say that it just would not have happened.  His name would have been wrong, and he would NOT have risen to power.  I still think the Nazi party, or its equivalent, would have crystallized around some other human crystal, er, “leader,” but not “Adolph Schicklgruber.”
  3. If he had been accepted to art school.  Others have also made this speculation.  Even if he proved to be a crappy artist and were later kicked out, it would have changed the timeline enough that he would not have been part of the “Beer Hall Putsch” or gone to prison or written “Mein Kampf” or… …you get the picture.  Different timeline = no Adolf Hitler as “der Fuhrer.”
  4. From here, I would have to dive into a deep dive into Hitler’s natal chart and life events to see where the other breakpoints are in his timeline.  But, I am fairly certain they are there.

Which brings us back to our regularly scheduled program and YOU.  Astrology, in my opinion, is NOT FATE.  It involves many timelines, some more probable and others less probable, but all contingent on our decisions when presented different “windows of opportunity.”  Almost every day (if not EVERY day), you are presented with opportunities to “change the road you are on” (stealing from “Stairway to Heaven”).  Maybe today is one of those days?

The big news for today is (1) Mars moves into Gemini and (2) Venus squares Saturn.  Regarding the Mars move into Gemini, 5D Astrology has a superb piece on that, and we do not think we can do better.  We recommend you read that.  Regarding Venus square Saturn, We wrote a piece on this type of aspect in 2015.  For many people it is a tough aspect, and this one hits any late mutables hard (Gemini about June 15th or later, Virgo about September 15th or later, Sagittarius about December 14th or later, and Pisces about March 15th or later).  Late Scorpio or late Cancer will also feel it to some degree.  Late Aries or late Leo might also feel it.  Smartest use for this kind of thing is to review your budget and finances get those kinds of things in order.  One thing that can prosper here: “May-December” romances (old + young).”  Just do not kidnap anyone underage and flee out of state.  (That would be a bad idea under any set of aspects.)

Lunar aspects are fairly ordinary.  Moon in late Aquarius turns void a bit past 1 PM CDT and moves into Pisces by 3 PM CDT.  Accomplish what you can before the void and take a break, if at all possible, for the rest of the day.  Watch your temper about 3 PM CDT (or avoid over-doing it if you are exercising) and finish business that you must finish, deferring the rest to another day.

Outers are moderately busy with the main punctuation mark being Mars square North Node.  Again, avoid unnecessary quarrels or overdoing it, but do know that an important message will come to you about some conflict today.

April 17, 2017 (Julian 107)

April 17, 2017 (Julian 107)

This is the kind of day that is not clearly good or clearly bad but it is clearly about work and “getting things done” and almost no one is in the mood to play.  Sun trine Saturn is benevolent, sort of, even though Saturn is known as the “Greater Malefic.”  With Moon in Capricorn (Saturn’s home) almost no one has any sympathy for anyone else.  Few people, if anyone, can make excuses work today (even if they are valid!).  Mars (the “Lesser Malefic”) is in unsympathetic Taurus forming the unpleasant aspect called a “quincunx” (or “inconjunct”) with Saturn.  Neither can agree, and both effectively have a miscommunication or “misunderstanding” (all this with Mercury Retrograde!).

Moon forms a sesquiquadrate with Mars, amplifying the intensity of the quincunx, and forms a sextile to Neptune, bringing the confusion that Neptune brings into the muddled mix.  All of this occurs in the evening in the Western Hemisphere and early morning hours of Tuesday in the UK / EU and points east.

Outers are quite busy.  We have already mentioned Mars / Saturn, but Mars also forms a sesquiquadrate to Hygeia, bringing an urgency to health and healthcare issues (which may be the source of issues for a number of people this evening).  Pallas biquintiles the North Node, so some creative problem solving MIGHT help solve the issues of this evening.  Saturn also forms a biquintile, also adding to the possibility of a creative solution.

Staying home this evening and taking a break seems like a good idea, but this might be an evening where the problem(s) come and find you.

Astrology Forecast for April 9, 2017 (Julian 099)

Mercury makes the Retrograde Station now, and you already know that if you read any of our blogs or astrology blogs in general.  We will not make any attempt to add to that specifically.

But today is Julian Day 99, and I do wonder what the numer.ologists have to say about that!

Moon is v/c from about 3 AM CDT until about 7:30 AM CDT moving then from Virgo into Libra.  Today becomes more about relationships and the communications problems (Mercury) that emerge today.  Tara Greene seems to really like this weekend, an opinion that differs from almost all other prognosticators.  I actually think that this particular Sunday is mixed.  Setbacks will occur (if not already), but I see certain potentials as well.

Moon has oppositions, a square, and a quincunx, so the minor events today have a tendency to annoy us but that CAN be a motive to make a best effort to follow correct action.  You, yourself, must decide what that means in your situation.

Moon sesquiquadrate Mars may bring a late night sense of urgency.  Juno (wives, sisters, and especially “trust issues”) also forms a sesquiquadrate with the North Node and we must face karmic implications regarding who we do, or do not, trust.  An examination of relationships is the top priority today.

Mars BiQuintiles Saturn and all best are off when it comes to powerful insights and maybe genius level ideas about taking strong action regarding a practical problem.  (I hope this does not mean an elevation of the situation in Syria, but it could.)

We also feel the Full Moon building more fully at this time.  While it does perfect just an hour past midnight on April 11th, it is really in full force today.  Relationships and justice are at the forefront.  Those who plan too much will need to take proper action and eliminate paralysis by analysis.  Those who tend to take action without much thought will need to stop and do some planning.  You probably know which of those two opposite categories contain your tendencies, so adjust accordingly.

One more thing: if you love someone, today is a good day to let them know that.  And I do not mean strictly spouses or similar, I mean parents and children and anyone else that really matters.  Do that today.

Be careful out there!

Astrology Forecast for April 8, 2017 (Julian 098)

Hollywood is famous for writing movies with happy endings on the premise that they sell better.  While articles that satirize the process (like this one) might be funny, no one really likes them.

This fact really sucks when you are an astrologer writing a forecast and have a weekend like this one with the Sun/Uranus-Jupiter-Pluto T-Square (add Vesta: Grand Cross) causing “things” to go boom (along with President Trump, Putin, and sundry Middle Eastern Players).  Retrograde Venus (Pisces) squares Retrograde Saturn and it all looks rather bleak.  We wrote about it yesterday, and Clarissa (Viva Combusta) has detailed the nuances in an excellent piece, quite popular on our main blog (Grand Trines).  In a short phrase: it ain’t over yet.

What possible “happy ending” can you write with a mess like that?

Astro-Butterfly has a nice piece about this month, and we recommend it if you like to at least attempt to plan ahead.

Lunar aspects are sundry, and a mix like that is always tricky to interpret.  But we think the Moon Sesquiquadrate Mercury near Noon CDT is the most important.  To use a horrific old Southern saying (arguably “Southern Gothic“), we will all be “running around like a chicken with its head cut off.”

Shakespeare elegantly titled a play: “Much Ado about Nothing.”  (Let us be clear: the Sarin gas in Syria and missles that followed are a big thing; but chances are good that your frantic chase today is NOT despite how bad it may currently look.)

Keep in mind that you do have at least SOME choice in this matter!  (So, how to proceed?)

Moon in Virgo is great for scrubbing and cleaning, so please do use the energy that way instead of a frantic chase after something you simple cannot achieve at this time, if ever.  Windows to “get it done,” whatever “it” is, will come again next week or sometime in May after Mercury moves direct.  Postpone “it” until then and focus on what you can actually achieve to get the most out of this day.  This day CAN productive and useful (but probably NOT the best of “party days” for most people).

Outers are very nearly silent EXCEPT for the curious aspect of a perfection of Saturn BiQuintile Ceres.  This indicates a very odd kind of creativity that is ENTIRELY focused on practical matters such as reorganizing your food pantry or something similar.  Curiously, such a reorganization of basic elements of prosperity such as our pantry or our kitchen on this date can produce a MAJOR cascade of helpful events.  Ditto for review of the home budget.

The Full Moon cometh on April 10th, only two days away.  Best to be a seller now and a buyer then.  And we almost never recommend scrubbing and cleaning during a waxing moon, but today is a noteworthy exception.

And, stay away from Choctaw Ridge.

Astrology Forecast for April 7, 2017 (Julian 097)

Astrology Forecast for April 7, 2017 (Julian 097)

Clear winners and clear losers emerge today.  Sun opposite Jupiter is usually benevolent, but with retrograde season present and this being part of the Sun(+Uranus)-Jupiter-Pluto T-Square “things” can become “big” and “things” can be “blown out of proportion.”  We may be on the edge of a war, a real “hot” war, and this configuration indicates that is a very real possibility, especially with the Venus (Retrograde in Pisces) / Saturn (Retrograde in Sagittarius) square perfecting tomorrow.  See, also, our commentary from Election Day 2016, particular Part 3 in which I predict that a “hot” war is coming (but not as “hot” with Donald Trump as it would have been with Hillary Clinton).

So, what does this mean for most of us in practical day to day terms?  Superb opportunities can be had today, but be careful not to overindulge (too much food, too much spending, too much booze, or too much of anything else).  Saturn (Retrograde) perfects a triseptile to Vesta, so we have an opportunity from an insight regarding some old karma related to church and faith (or “higher thought” or “foreign affairs” or “higher education”) and family (or oceans! or fluids of some kind if you are a chemist).

With a waxing moon in Virgo, some of us can take on home reorganization projects.  That is a VERY good use of our time and energy today!  Today CAN be a fun day, so point it in that direction.

Not sure what all of this means?  Watch this video, it might help!
