June 5, 2017 (Julian 156) Moon in Libra moves to Scorpio; Mercury, Venus Void

June 5, 2017 (Julian 156) Moon in Libra moves to Scorpio; Mercury, Venus Void

Moon is quite active today, starting in Libra but turning void by 3:55 AM CDT and then moving into Scorpio at 5:45 AM CDT.  Oppositions to Venus then Uranus overnight leave many of us restless with sleep difficulties or strange dreams.  UK / EU make likely have some strange events or surprises this morning.  (Let us hope they are not dangerous ones.)

Moon forms sesquiquadrates to Neptune and the Sun, forming a Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist), a notoriously dangerous pattern.  The danger tends to affect again (you guessed it) EU / UK but COULD occur elsewhere.  Venus is void after the previously mentioned opposition until the early morning hours of June 6th (Western Hemisphere) and Mercury turns void about 10 PM and remains void until about 5 PM CDT on June 6th.  The 9/11 terrorists acts in 2001 occurred during a Moon v/c, so voids CAN be dangerous.

We have previously discussed outers (yesterday), but will mention that we think they still look dangerous.  Mars biseptile Jupiter tends to be “karmic” (sometimes payback or revenge) and Mars / Jupiter anything tends to produce disputes amplified far beyond what would normally be expected.  Be careful today.

Summary: Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) have a SLIGHT advantage today, but people in general tend to enter into unreasonable disputes.  Work alone if you can, and send out your results after the Moon moves into Sagittarius (unless you are a water sign; water signs can risk sending out results today).

May 8, 2017 (Julian 128) Moon opposes Mercury, Uranus; Thor’s Hammer during Void

May 8, 2017 (Julian 128) Moon opposes Mercury, Uranus; Thor’s Hammer during Void

This day is tricky.  The gift it brings is one of the best opportunities this year for brainstorming and creativity, particularly for writers and other communicators.  The downside is that a Thor’s Hammer forms during the void this evening, with the Moon at apex and Mars / Neptune on each leg.  (Work by yourself during that period if at all possible.)  Moon moves into Scorpio at Midnight CDT starting the ramp up to the Full Moon on May 10th.

Early morning hours find Moon square Pluto about 3 AM CDT, and some people have trouble sleeping or, worse, some kind of quarrel or disagreement.  Stay out of those today if you can.

This afternoon Moon opposes Mercury shortly before 3 PM CDT and opposes Uranus an hour later.  While the afternoon is the peak period for creativity and productivity in creative arts, the entire day is a strong one.

Moon moves void of course at almost exactly 6 PM CDT after a relatively benevolent sextile to Saturn.  Avoid purchases and all but the most routine activities during this period.  Moon forms a sesquiquadrate (one leg of the Thor’s Hammer) with Mars (Gemini) shortly past 6 PM CDT and another sesquiquadrate with Neptune (Pisces) shortly before 10 PM CDT.  This is a very “energetic” period in which you can accomplish much, subject to revision, but also a potentially dangerous period or a period of purchases which produce deep regrets.  Even if your writings (or other creative works) require revisions later, please persist.  Just do NOT hit the “send” button on an email or make other “permanent” commitment until after a review some time on Tuesday (after you have “slept on it”).

We could stop there, but more applies.  Mars biquintiles Astraea, giving extra potency to legal documents or legislation drafted at this time.  (Just make damned sure what you draft is really what you want!)  Neptune binoviles Ceres, and creatives might make some money out of their projects.  (Good news o me!)  Jupiter quadrinoviles Ceres, amplifying the effect of possible monetization (or, literally, putting “food” on your table).  Finally, Pluto noviles Black Moon Lilith, presenting an intense romantic opportunity for those so inclined (keeping in mind the warning about the Moon v/c).  Creatives can also harness this to produce more “unusual” work (example: “erotica”).

All in all, this will be a memorable and important day for at least some of us.

May 2, 2017 (Julian 122) Moon forms Thor’s Hammer with Chiron, Saturn

May 2, 2017 (Julian 122) Moon forms Thor’s Hammer with Chiron, Saturn

Technically, Saturn square Chiron perfected Sunday, though some events related to that manifested Monday (yesterday).  But with Sun forming a sesquiquadrate to Saturn today followed by a semisquare to Chiron, today might be the “big day.”

Here in Dallas, a police office shot, and killed, a fifteen year old passenger in a car that was pulling away from the police.  A stabbing rampage in Austin (Monday) left one student dead and three wounded.  A shooter shot a paramedic before killing himself and another.  The paramedic will likely live, but only due to a fast response.  A wrong way driver in Ohio had his car explode in a huge fireball caught on video.  We think Tuesday / Wednesday (Mercury direct station) / Thursday through the weekend (the days immediately after the direct station) could be worse.  But Tuesday really has our attention.

Late Tuesday the Moon forms sesquiquadrates with both Chiron and Saturn, leading to a pattern we call a Thor’s Hammer (aka “God’s Fist”).  People with a planet in mid-Leo, for example birthdays in the first two weeks of August, will likely feel this.

And people with late mutable birthdays (last week of Gemini / Virgo / Sagittarius / Pisces) will feel it along with late fire signs (the rest of Leo, and the last week of Aries) and late water signs (end of Cancer and end of Scorpio).  Actually, I think that covers enough of the zodiac that most of the rest of us will know or be related to someone that is affected.  That is, I think everyone will be affected.

As a bit of a footnote, today is Tiu’s Day (Tuesday).  Tiu was the Norse god of war, exactly equivalent to Mars, (aka the “lesser malefic”).

Do not take chances today.  Be careful today.

April 26, 2017 (Julian 116) New Moon in Taurus

April 26, 2017 (Julian 116) New Moon in Taurus

First: you may wish to check our blog: “New Moons Only.”  At NMO, we collect posts that strictly relate to New Moons.  Most are specifically addressed to the NM, but a few might be “day of” forecasts.  This blog such provide a significant number of different viewpoints and forecasts that you can find one that best fits your needs and perspective.

According to Cafe Astrology, “The NEW MOON occurs on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 8:16 AM EDT.,” which is 7:16 AM CDT.  (Adjust according to your time zone.)  Since a number of in-depth analyses can be found at New Moons Only, we will only say that this NM provides an opportunity to examine matters of health, beauty, finances, or similar related topics.

Cafe Astrology also says this: “It’s time to “stop and smell the roses” and to become more aware of what makes us feel comfortable and secure. This is an excellent cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship to money and possessions, as well as to discover what truly makes us happy and fulfilled.”  We agree and offer the classic rock music video below (“Grazing the the Grass”).  (If you are clicking the link some time after this week in 2017, keep in mind that Cafe Astrology updates this particular part of their site with whatever are the current forecasts.)

With a number of planets retrograde, a smart strategy is to look at old projects in these areasthat might be worth resurrecting.  Did you have a “New Years Resolution” that was unrealistic and failed?  Maybe you can adjust it, bring it into alignment with reality, and turn it into an important and successful personal change at this time.

We do reserve the right to do a “post hoc” (after the fact) NM analysis (though we prefer NOT to do those).

The following Full Moon (Moon in Scorpio) is May 10th, after Mercury turns direct but is still in the “shadow period” (until May 20th).  Each of these subsequent events are turning points where you can “tune” some project you have re-launched to make it better or more realistic or terminate it if it still is not working.

We note that Mercury (in Aries) is near Uranus (in Aries) and about to conjunct Uranus.  What does that mean?  It means that writing projects, news and journalism projects (and blogging), and other projects can benefit from a launch now.

We note a caveat: Venus (the ruler of Taurus, and therefore over this New Moon) is late in Pisces (29 Pisces) and void of course.  Some things that happen at this time may seem like “fate” and out of your control.  Others are not quite ready to launch and you will need to wait a few days (at least until Venus enters Aries on April 28th) or until after Mercury moves direct (after May 3rd).  Only you truly know what applies best in your situation, so use this guidance accordingly.

Mars is quite active at this time, forming sesquiquadrates with both Pluto and Jupiter.  Regular (and long-term) readers of Grandtrines will recognize this pattern: it is a Thor’s Hammer.  Mars is at the apex, and Mars with Pluto / Jupiter is one of the worst possible combinations.  The pattern is a dangerous one, associated with dangerous people, places, and things.  We recommend sticking with the safest possible alternatives at this time, avoiding dangerous people, places, and things (and avoid being one of those), and maintaining the best possible relations with others.

One last point: Mars perfects both sesquiquadrates tomorrow, which may be even more dangerous than today.  (We live in dangerous times, but you already knew that.  Sometimes astrology confirms what we already know.)  Consistently pick the safe option here!

A Grand Trine is present (Mercury / Uranus in Aries, North Node in Late Leo / Early Virgo, and Saturn in Sagittarius.  Some people, notable fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) and maybe air signs (Libra, Aquarius, Gemini) will have important opportunities at this time.

Lunar aspects are fairly ordinary, but you may feel a sense of urgency about 8 PM CDT and frustration about 10 PM CDT.  Whatever you are working on, finish it as early in the day as you can or defer it until tomorrow.

Outers are interesting.  Mars binovile Neptune can favor scammers OR it can give the “marks” a glimpse into what is “really going on” and how to handle it.  Mars novile Eris can, similarly, provide an insight into some aspect of “chaos” in our life and maybe how to handle it.  Pay attention; these messages are important.

Astrology Forecast for April 5, 2017 (Julian 095)

Astrology Forecast for April 5, 2017

We are living in complex times.  If you are an astrologer, then you know this because of the cascade of Retrograde Stations this month.  People, places, things, and ideas that need reconsideration, or maybe a first consideration, will demand your time.

Saturn makes a retrograde station today in Western Hemisphere time zones but April 6th in others (UK / EU).  A number of others have written about this, including Journey by the Sea / AndyCandyPants,  Eyes of Heaven / Elizabeth Bassett, and others.  The coverage is good enough that we do not need to add to it, and Saturn is so slow and methodical in how it achieves results that you have been feeling it for weeks already anyway.  Authority figures come into question, financials take a tumble, and older people such as myself feel a bit of “rheumatism” in the bones and joints.

Astro-Butterfly points our that Mars trines Saturn today.  While trines tend to be benevolent, the planets involved are a mess.  Traditionally, the classical astrologers called Mars the “lesser malefic” and Saturn the “greater malefic.”  But Mars is in Taurus, and that is not the best place for it.  A mutual reception with Venus (in Aries) was helping each (Mars and Venus) but retrograde Venus has moved into Pisces.

Saturn (contraction) is in Sagittarius (expansion), also not the best place for it.  Stations are arguably worse than actually retrogrades (from our earth-bound point of the view, the planet is “standing still” and, arguably, unable to function because it, metaphorically, cannot “make up its mind”).  Saturn is Station Retrograde, and Mars will soon do the same.

Frankly, I am not sure how to interpret this.  Is this “bad” for Mars and Saturn?  Yes!  Is it “bad” for “us”?  Not sure.  Mars and Saturn are malefics.  Is their affect amplified (made worst) or neutralized by the retrogrades and sign placements?  Not sure.  It seems complex and messy.  My guess is that this is particularly “bad” for “martians” (athletes, soldiers, police, intelligence agencies) but maybe it just means they need to take a hard look at whatever they have been neglecting.  Ditto for th Saturnines (bankers, bone doctors, and more than a few “authority figures”).

so, what else?  (As if that is not enough?)   Moon is in Leo, and Sun in Aries.  Together, they form a Grand Fire Trine, good for those who are leaders (but not necessarily “authority figures”; sounds paradoxical!).

Moon in Leo forms a (loose) Thor’s Hammer (Fist of God) as Moon forms (1) a sesquiquadrate with Chiron (in Pisces), another sesquiquadrate with Saturn (in Sagittarius), and another sesquiquadrates with Venus (in Pisces).  We think that this combination makes the day rather dangerous.  Please do be careful.  Watch for dangerous people, places, and things, and do not be one yourself.

Outers are difficult to interpret, but besides Mars Trine Pluto, one stands out: Vesta (Cancer, Tradition) square Eris (Aries, Discord).  That is an important aspect, and 5D Astrology dicusses it at length.  In summary, perfection of that aspect represents an important turning point in a outer planet Grand Cross, a Cardinal Grand Cross.

In all, it looks like a bit of a tough day, the first of several.  Hang in there.
